I hold a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Science as well as a PhD in Bioinformatics. This interdisciplinary background is quite an advantage in terms of having less of a challenge in translating works from various fields of science. It also granted me experience in scientific writing, which I have put to use as a freelance translator since 2018.

Hello there! I'm Gustavo - nice to meet you! I'm an undergrad currently working towards a bachelor's degree in Portuguese/English Translation. Although I've just started seeking professional certification (I switched to my current major after three years in biotech), I've worked with translation for a while and have been fluent in English for as long as I can remember. My work so far has been informal - I translated abstracts for scientific papers, proofread articles from grad students, created language mods for games - and I'm eager to build up my professional portfolio.
As a language professional since 2008, I delivered thousands of words for direct clients and agencies within complex projects for a wide range of industries, including Marketing, Financial and Legal. So far, I have translated 9 books, localized an award-winning educational game, transcreated campaigns for some of the biggest brands in the world and provided localization services for fintechs and banks. I have also subtitled audiovisual content for the some of the biggest media companies, including Netflix, Rede Globo, and others. I hold a graduate diploma in Translation, A.A.S. in Environmental Management and I am pursuing a M. Sc. in Translation. Member of the Brazilian Translators Association (ABRATES). TOEFL score of 647/677 (C1 Level).
I have worked as a translator, proofreader and editor in several specialized fields.I lived and worked in the USA for 10 years , therefore I am able to understand the intricacies of both languages and cultural contexts. I have extensive experience in translating, proofreading, subtitling and transcriptions . I am a full time translator, which allows me to accept high volume projects and deliver a quick turnaround.I have translated many texts and books for private and governmental institutions.
I translate for fun. I love languages, codes and enigmas. I'm bilingual (English & Portuguese) and have attempted translations to these target languages from Italian, Medieval Italian, Spanish, French, German and Russian, but I have more experience with the English-Portuguese pair and the Russian language as a source.
I prime for quality: I have been working with English teaching for quite a long time now. For the same period, I have also worked on many kinds of translations such as cosmetics, law, computing, novels, contracts, etc. Concerning my portfolio, due to copyright restrictions, I am afraid of uploading some files I translated. However, I can say I did the 144-page English version of the Brazilian book "Believe it, they are not dead!" by Nei Calderon (ISBN 978-85-5602-001-7). I also wrote a simplified version of the 'Little Prince' for students of English (ISBN 978-85-5522-155-2). Some years ago, I, along with two more partners, did a 400-page translation of a contract for a consulate. Well, there is much more. =)
I have a bachelor in Electrical Engineering with a major in Electronic systems from the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. During this time I was an exchange student at the University of Melbourne in Australia for one year. I have also started my Master's in Data Analytics at the Universität Hildesheim in Germany.
I’ve been working as a full-time translator since 2012. In 2017, I translated more than 850,000 words in different fields, including: Entertainment, Market Research, Game localization/QA, Business, IT, Finance, e-Commerce, Engineering/Oil and gas, Mobile apps, Social Networks, etc.
End clients include: Aditya Birla Group, Atlas Copco, Electronic Arts, Netflix, Kaseya, Teledyne Technologies, e-Bay, Danaher Corporation, Prudential Financial, etc.
I graduated in Economics and took additional courses in Finance, having worked for two banks as a Financial Adviser and Business Manager. Besides studying English since my childhood, I took the Full-Time English Language Program – Language and Culture at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

I’m flexible and reliable. All my projects are handled on time.
I'm from Brazil and I have been working as a freelance translator since 2014. My main focus and experience is in entertainment, engineering, science and technology, but I'm not limited to it.
I started translating articles and term papers for students, mainly for international publication in science journals. I also translated, subtitled and did voice over work for institutional videos, aimed at foreign investors to eventually bring research funding for the university and the laboratory I worked in during my MSc course. Although I don't have a formal education in languages, I have never received a request to review the English of articles I have translated. Eventually, I obtained an English Proficiency certificate from the British Council, in order to prove my skills. I'm trying to delve deeper into translation, localization and subtitling, mainly thos connected to entertainment, such as games, books, movies and videos.
I am an open-minded, goal-oriented and perfectionist professional with an optimistic outlook on all things in life and willing to adapt to the methodology of the company I’m working with. I enjoy overcoming challenges and I have a genuine interest in Languages and Translation since I was a child. I provide translation, retroversion and proofreading services in general and specialized domains with appropriate technical resources.
